A bit of a Round Up

Another busy old month in the life of Callington YFC as the new officers gather apace and settle into their new roles.

It started off in early on the 3rd November, when the club held its annual dinner and dance at the Eliot House Hotel, Liskeard. Georgina Monk from County guest spoke along with the club's outgoing chairman Andrew Eley.

Then the club celebrated Fireworks night a couple of days late, on the 7th at Trewell Farm by kind permission of the Cuming family. Richard Felton's put me up and the girls' hearty soup certainly went down well.

In the indoor sports, the club finished an excellent 2nd, in the county final, beaten by the St Buryan lot. They breed them big down west y'know! The after do was enjoyed by all, but afterwards Martin Webb was more concerned about the temperature of his feet.

Cabaret rehearsals are gathering apace, with several ideas and routines being tried out. Most members have got the hang of it, which bodes well for January!

To round off the month, a strictly educational and factfinding tour of St Austell Brewery was in hand, and several different ales were tried in the name of science.

Speaking of science, the club recently witnessed the dissection of a cow at Dartmoor Zoo, which was informative and certainly not for the squeamish.

Hearty congratulations for Nicole Doidge who got a place on the NFYFC Travel programme to Austria next year, seeing off stiff competition from up and down the country.

Well done again, Nicole!

Christmas do's come thick and fast. Christmas Cracker aka Tinsel Ball is Monday 16th, then County Carol at Truro with a do at Eden is Friday 19th. Then Club Christmas party is 27th at the Mel, Pensilva...
